RationingRationing was a top priority in Britain because most of the food had to go to the British soldiers. The average adult citizen was provided one pound of beef, four ounces of bacon and ham, and eight ounces of sugar and cheese per week. Rationing was strict, and it was rare for anybody to get a potato or fresh fruits or vegetables. Though harsh, rationing played an important role in the British people's survival.
